The Venom HC U18 AAA program officially hit the ice this week, marking the beginning of an exciting new season. The team gathered for three practices at the Summit Centre in Abbotsford, where players, coaches, and staff began building the habits, culture, and work ethic that will carry us through the year.

After months away from competition, the first skates were all about shaking off the off-season rust. The focus was on fundamentals — skating, conditioning, passing, breakouts, and shooting — the building blocks that create a strong foundation for success. Coaches emphasized accountability, attention to detail, and consistent effort, while the players responded with energy and determination.

What stood out the most this week was the buy-in from the entire roster. Everyone stepped up, everyone worked hard, and everyone showed they are committed to the vision of what it means to be part of Venom HC. On the ice, players pushed themselves to battle through conditioning and compete in every drill. Off the ice, they began shaping the team-first culture we expect, where dedication, discipline, and pride in the jersey come first.

Fueling the Team

A special thank you goes out to Booster Juice for providing the fuel to help our athletes perform at their best. Proper nutrition and recovery are critical at this level, and we are grateful for the partnership in keeping our players energized and focused.

Players of the Week

Each week, the coaching staff will recognize three players who exemplify the hard work, commitment, and passion required to succeed at the AAA level. These players not only stood out on the ice but also set the tone for what it means to represent Venom HC.

Our inaugural Players of the Week are:

  • #1 – Goaltender: Jacob Wang

  • #10 – Forward: Joe Torrans

  • #15 – Defenseman: Kellan Brown

These players impressed with their effort, consistency, and willingness to raise the standard in practice. They’ve earned the recognition, but as we remind the team, the reward is also a challenge to continue pushing forward.

Looking Ahead

The first week is in the books, but it is just the beginning. The team has already started to build momentum and a shared identity: a group that works hard, plays fast, and takes pride in every detail of the game.

Venom HC is about more than hockey — it’s about culture, discipline, and representing something bigger than yourself. As we continue to grow together, one thing is already clear: this team will strike with fear and bleed Venom.
