  • President/GM & Head Coach - Brady Douglas
    Born and raised in Chilliwack, developed his game through top-level AAA programs and the PJHL before pursuing his education in the United States while playing ACHA Division 2/3 hockey. His experience as a high-level player laid the foundation for his transition into coaching, where he has spent over five years developing elite athletes across British Columbia and Alberta. He has been a key figure in numerous Minor Hockey Associations and clubs, including the Fraser Valley Aces U18/U17 Championship Team, Jr. Jets U15/U18, CMHA U18 A1/A3, U18 AAA PCHA Scholarship Team, Team BC U15, BC/Alberta Top Skill Teams U15, Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association, Airdrie Minor Hockey, and Chilliwack Minor Hockey Association. ​ Known for his ability to connect with players and push them to new heights, Brady has helped numerous athletes advance to Junior A/B and collegiate and even pro levels. His expertise in skill development, team leadership, and player advancement has made him a sought-after coach, culminating in his most recent work with the NHL Coaches Association. With a deep passion for the game and a commitment to developing top-tier talent, he continues to shape the next generation of hockey players.
  • Advisor to the GM/Hockey OPS - Glen Carrier
    Glen Carrier serves as the Advisor to the General Manager and Hockey Operations, bringing over a decade of experience in the Western Hockey League (WHL) and a deep understanding of the game at both the junior and national levels. With more than 10 years in various WHL roles, including time with the Kamloops Blazers, Glen has built a reputation as a highly respected evaluator of talent and a key contributor to team development. His involvement with Hockey Canada, including support for the World Junior program, speaks to his expertise in scouting, player development, and high-performance hockey environments. A former player himself, born in Maple Ridge, BC, Glen offers a unique blend of firsthand playing experience and executive-level insight. His extensive knowledge of player growth paths, game strategy, and roster building makes him an invaluable part of the hockey operations team, providing mentorship, strategic input, and a vital link between junior hockey and the next level.
  • U18 Program Director & Assistant Coach - Dawson Travis
    Dawson has an extensive background in coaching, having previously worked with the FV U18 Aces, CMHA U18 A3, and the Spring Jr. Jets U15. His deep understanding of the game, combined with his ability to develop and motivate young athletes, makes him an invaluable addition to our coaching staff. With over 12 years of top-tier AAA hockey experience, Dawson has honed his leadership skills both on and off the ice. As a player, he captained multiple A1 teams and competed in the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL) with the Abbotsford Pilots. His firsthand experience in high-level hockey gives him unique insights that will greatly benefit our athletes. One of Dawson’s key strengths lies in his knowledge of special teams, particularly the power play. His expertise in this area will be instrumental in maximizing our team’s scoring opportunities and achieving a high conversion rate. His strategic approach and attention to detail will provide our players with the tools they need to excel in high-pressure situations.

  • Goalie Coach - Allen Gillis
    Allen Gillis is a dedicated and resilient hockey player who spent a decade honing his skills and growing as both an athlete and a leader. Beginning his journey as a Rep goalie in 2015, Allen quickly demonstrated a passion for the game, winning banners and building lasting friendships. Throughout his career, he faced numerous challenges, from being relegated to house teams to navigating tough coach dynamics and overcoming disappointing placements. Despite setbacks, he consistently found ways to thrive, showcasing his talent through standout performances, such as multiple shutouts and stellar save percentages. Along the way, Allen developed valuable lessons about patience, teamwork, and mental fortitude, which shaped his approach to both the game and life. ​ Allen's later years in hockey were marked by leadership roles and personal growth. Playing for his hometown Aldergrove Kodiaks, he embraced the responsibilities of alternate captain and, later, team captain, guiding his team through adversity in Junior B and Junior A leagues. His perseverance was evident as he overcame injuries and helped end a 28-game losing streak with a heroic performance. Allen's journey concluded in 2024 after an impressive tenure at every level of play with Aldergrove. Through dedication, grit, and an unwavering love for the game, Allen Gillis left an indelible mark on his teams and the sport he loves.
  • Trainer/Athletic Therapist - Dustin Adamson
    Dustin brings comprehensive knowledge regarding safety, injury prevention, and rehabilitation of the players. After being involved with the game of hockey for many years, he knows how physically demanding this sport can be. He finds it extremely rewarding to be able to help keep players safe and manage any potential injuries with the care and support that is required. Being a trainer/athletic therapist is also a perfect outlet for him to utilize his skillset, as he comes from a rehabilitation background, working in the community as a registered kinesiologist since 2019. ​ While furthering his knowledge and skills through working, volunteering, and education, as well as serving as the trainer/athletic therapist for the Fraser Valley Aces U18 Championship Team, Dustin has the training and the experience required to help keep the players safe and help them maintain their ability to perform at the highest level. Certifications include Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer, Shift Concussion Management, and CCMI Complete Concussion Training for Healthcare Practitioners.
  • Video/Analytics Coach - Brendan Werbin
    Brendan’s hockey days began in minor hockey with Lakeshore Minor Hockey in Montreal. Brendan was enrolled in hockey academy throughout school and was on the ice 5-7 times a week. After a move to BC, he continued his hockey journey with the Ridge Meadows Rustlers and continued to play for several years. Shortly after moving to BC, Brendan began instructing skating lessons and intro to hockey classes with the city of Maple Ridge, before eventually stepping away to pursue his schooling and a career in the hockey industry with the Coquitlam Express of the BCHL. ​ Brendan currently works for the Camrose Kodiaks of the AJHL as a scout for BC, and previously was a scout for the Coquitlam Express of the BCHL for the Lower Mainland. He still loves to play whenever he has the chance. He has been an avid ball hockey player for the last 3 years on Vancouver Island while attending post-secondary school. Brendan’s love for the game goes beyond playing; he has a desire to help others get to the next level and become better players and people every day.
  • Power Skating/Skill Coach - Sony Grewal
    With a lifelong passion for hockey that began at the age of 5, I have accumulated a wealth of playing and coaching experience that I now bring to my development program. Starting with minor hockey locally, my dedication and love for the game propelled me to play at the junior A level. I had the privilege of representing the Seattle Totems and later the Rhinos in El Paso, Texas. These experiences not only honed my skills as a player but also instilled in me a deep understanding of the game and the importance of teamwork. Following my playing career, I transitioned into coaching, starting with the Langley Bantam AAA team. Coaching allowed me to share my knowledge and passion for the sport with young athletes, helping them develop their skills and reach their full potential. In addition to coaching, I also serve as a scout for the Seattle Totems of the USPHL Premier league. This role allows me to stay connected to the game at a higher level and identify talented players who have the potential to excel in their hockey careers. Drawing from my extensive playing experience, coaching background, and scouting responsibilities, I am committed to providing a comprehensive and effective development program for aspiring athletes. My goal is to pass on my knowledge, skills, and love for the game to the next generation, helping them navigate their own hockey journeys and achieve their goals. Seeing players grow, both on and off the ice, is the ultimate reward for me.
  • Strength & Conditioning Coach - Vik Gill
    Vik Gill is the owner and lead instructor at the Fitness Lab. He became interested in fitness at a young age while playing hockey and competing in martial arts. Quickly, he realized how much better he was at his sports due to incorporating workouts. With over 10 years in the industry, Vik instructs in group and personal formats, focusing on achieving long-term health and fitness goals through challenging, high-intensity workouts that are constantly varied. He accommodates all levels from youth groups as young as 7 to senior citizens. Additionally, he trains athletes for hockey, lacrosse, dance, basketball, and soccer. Vik’s clients are known to surpass their ambitions and stick to their fitness programs because they enjoy a high level of satisfaction under his guidance. ​ The Fitness Lab is a state of the art studio that opened in early 2015 and expanded to double the size exactly two years later. Added were a spin area, a private gym for personal training and a larger space for groups. All equipment is top of the line and maintained in pristine condition to facilitate the safest, most effective experience and yield optimal results.
  • Nutritionist/Mental Health Coach - Ron Downie
    Originally from the Yukon, now working out of the Fraser Valley, Ron is a Level 2 Certified Nutritionist & Master Health Coach, with an advanced Certificate in Change Psychology, specializing in Sleep, Stress Management & Recovery. Having been a AAA player himself and growing up the son of a National Certified Hockey Coach, he has been part of the game all his life, and shares in the Venom philosophy of focusing on player development, encouraging that love for the game. Ron will be conducting seminars and info sessions, he will also be available to the team and all individual players for everything from Nutrition Advice to Mental Health support.

Our coaching staff at Venom HC brings a wealth of experience from high-level hockey, with backgrounds rooted in Junior, College, and Professional leagues. Each coach is carefully selected for their deep understanding of the game, and they are committed to developing players both athletically and personally. With over a decade of coaching at the AAA, Select, and top-tier teams across BC and Alberta, our coaches are seasoned professionals who focus on skill development, tactical understanding, and fostering a winning mindset.

 

Additionally, many of our coaches have participated in the prestigious NHL Coaches Program, where they gained invaluable mentorship and training from some of the best in the game. Importantly, our coaching staff operates with a non-parenting approach, allowing them to build strong, objective relationships with players and create a positive, professional environment where athletes can thrive.
