Resilient Richmond Defenseman Torin Swift Commits to Venom HC AAA

The Venom HC AAA organization is proud to announce the signing of Richmond, British Columbia defenseman Torin Swift to our 16U AAA team for the 2026/27 season.

Swift arrives after an incredibly resilient 2025/26 campaign. After earning a spot with the U18 A2 team, his season was unfortunately cut short when he suffered a significant injury during evaluations in September. Despite the setback, Torin remained committed to his recovery and returned in time for the playoffs, making an immediate impact with 1 goal and 4 assists in just 5 playoff games.

Prior to last season, Swift was one of the top offensive defensemen on the Richmond Jets U15 A1 squad. During the 2024/25 season, he recorded 8 goals and 15 assists in 30 games, leading all Jets defensemen in scoring while consistently contributing at both ends of the ice.

The Venom coaching staff first got an extended look at Swift during the organization's June ID Camp, where he quickly established himself as one of the camp's most impressive defensemen.

"Torin had a tremendous showing at our ID Camp," said President & General Manager Brady Douglas. "With every shift, you could see his confidence continue to grow. He's a defenseman who plays a very mature game. His defensive awareness, clean breakouts, puck movement, and decision-making all stood out. What impressed us most was his hockey IQ. He processes the game at a high level and consistently makes the right play."

The organization believes the 16U AAA program provides the ideal environment for Swift's continued development.

"We feel giving Torin one more year of development at the 16U level will be extremely beneficial," Douglas added. "He'll have the opportunity to play big minutes, develop into a leader on our blue line, and continue refining every aspect of his game. At the same time, we fully expect him to earn Affiliate Player opportunities with our 19U AAA team throughout the season. We believe this pathway gives him the best opportunity to achieve his long-term goals of playing high-level Junior hockey and pursuing college opportunities."

Swift brings size, poise, and strong puck-moving ability to the Venom defensive corps, and the organization is excited to watch his continued progression throughout the season.
