Venom’s Final 19U Signing: Roarke Surbey

Abbotsford, BC — September 15, 2026 — The Venom HC AAA Program is excited to announce the signing of Maple Ridge, BC forward Roarke Surbey (2008) to the 2026/27 19U AAA roster, completing the team’s roster for the upcoming NAPHL season.

Surbey comes to Venom following an impressive 2025/26 campaign, where he recorded 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points in 40 games. His offensive production, skill level and ability to create opportunities immediately stood out when he joined Venom for several practices during the offseason.

“Roarke was noticeable right away when he came out to practice with us,” said Venom HC President & GM Brady Douglas. “He has a lot of natural skill and has the ability to make plays at a high level. What stood out just as much was his desire to take his hockey seriously and put himself in the best possible position to reach his goals.”

For Surbey, the 2026/27 season is about taking a significant step forward in his development. With a goal of making the jump to Junior hockey next season, he understands that reaching that level requires a commitment to development both on and off the ice.

“He knows where he wants to go, and he understands that he has to go all in this year to get there,” Douglas added. “He has the power and skill to play at the Junior level. Our job is going to be helping him take the next steps — continuing to develop his speed, improving his hockey IQ and rounding out his overall game so he can become an impactful two-way Junior player.”

The NAPHL schedule will provide Surbey with an opportunity to compete against high-level competition while being exposed to Junior, college and other scouts throughout the season. With showcases and league play ahead, Venom believes the environment will provide the right platform for him to continue progressing toward his Junior hockey goals.

“We’re really excited about what Roarke can become,” said Douglas. “There is a lot of upside there. He’s joining a group of players who are hungry to improve and earn opportunities at the next level, and we believe this environment is going to push him every day.”

Surbey becomes the final signing for the Venom HC AAA 19U roster for the 2026/27 NAPHL season, bringing the team’s recruiting process to a close.
