Venom HC U18 AAA Signs Kamloops Defenseman Everett Johnson

The Venom HC U18 AAA program is thrilled to officially announce the signing of Everett Johnson, a talented defenseman from Kamloops, BC. Everett impressed our coaching staff throughout training camp and tryouts, earning his spot on the roster with a strong display of skill, composure, and competitive spirit.

From the very first skate, Everett showcased an impressive ability to control the game from the back end. His poise and calmness with the puck stood out immediately, as he consistently made smart, confident decisions under pressure. What makes Everett unique is his balance—he plays a safe, steady style of defense while also having the vision and instincts to take calculated risks when moving the puck up ice. That confidence in transition, combined with his ability to read plays and make clean exits, adds an important dimension to our defensive core.

Equally important is Everett’s competitive edge. While calm in his approach, he demonstrated a willingness to battle, win puck races, and play with physicality when needed. That mix of composure and compete level gives him a versatile style that fits perfectly with the identity of our program.

Last season, Everett played for the Kamloops AA Tier 2 U18 Team, where he gained valuable experience and established himself as a reliable defenseman capable of logging important minutes. His growth over the past year was evident in his performance at our camp, where he quickly adapted to the speed, intensity, and structure of the AAA level.

GM/Head Coach, Brady Douglas, spoke highly of Johnson’s tryout performance:

“Everett came in and immediately showed us that he has the tools to succeed at this level. His maturity on the ice, the way he controls the puck, and his ability to stay composed in high-pressure moments really stood out. We believe he will continue to develop into a key piece of our defensive group this season.”
