Venom HC Signs Emerging Kamloops Talent Braxton Prior

ABBOTSFORD, BC – Venom HC AAA is proud to announce the signing of Kamloops, BC forward Braxton Prior to the organization's 16U AAA Team for the 2026/27 season. Prior made an immediate impression on the coaching staff during Venom HC's July ID Camp, where he consistently elevated his game against some of the program's oldest and most experienced players. Despite competing as one of the younger athletes in attendance, Braxton showed he could more than hold his own against 2008 and 2007-born players with his speed, determination, and hockey IQ.

Standing out as one of the quickest players on the ice, Prior's explosive skating and natural ability to find open ice made him a constant offensive threat throughout the weekend. His knack for finding the back of the net and creating scoring opportunities quickly caught the attention of the coaching staff.

However, what truly separated Braxton was everything he did away from the puck.

Throughout the camp, he consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and maturity well beyond his years. Whether it was helping set up and clean up after sessions, encouraging teammates, or building confidence in other players throughout the weekend, Braxton embodied the type of culture Venom HC strives to build.

"Our program has always believed we'll choose a culture fit before a skills fit, and Braxton checked every box," said President & GM Brady Douglas. "He's an incredibly mature young man who leads by example, competes every shift, and genuinely makes the people around him better. Those are qualities that are difficult to teach. His work ethic, confidence, and willingness to help others made a lasting impression on our entire staff."

Head Coach, Brendan Werbin had this to say. "He's an exciting player to watch because of his speed and ability to create offence, but we also believe his game has another level to reach. Braxton is going to play meaningful minutes this season, and we're excited to help continue developing his skills and confidence throughout the year."

Venom HC is excited to welcome Braxton and his family to the organization and looks forward to watching his continued growth both on and off the ice during the 2026/27 season.
