Venom HC U18 AAA is excited to officially announce the signing of defenceman Parker Scobey for the 2025/26 season.

Parker brings a wealth of experience and a strong presence on the blue line. Last season, he played in the North West Junior Hockey League (NWJHL) with the Northern Alberta Lightning, competing against older, faster players and gaining valuable junior-level experience. This fall, Parker attended the Lake Cowichan Kraken Main Camp of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL), where he impressed coaches and earned an Affiliate Player (AP) position for the upcoming season.

Known for his two-way play, poise under pressure, and ability to shut down top offensive threats, Parker will be a massive asset to our defensive core. His signing not only strengthens our team but also provides him with the unique opportunity to be called up and gain in-game experience at the Junior level with the Kraken throughout the season.

This milestone also highlights Venom HC’s newly established affiliation with the Lake Cowichan Kraken. Through this partnership, our players gain direct opportunities for exposure, advancement, and first looks at the Junior A level. The alignment of values and player development focus between the two programs ensures that our athletes have a clear pathway to progress in their hockey careers.

“We’re thrilled to have Parker join the Venom this season,” said GM/Head Coach Brady Douglas. “He’s a player who has already proven himself at the Junior level, and with his skill set, leadership, and work ethic, he’ll be an anchor for our back end. On top of that, his connection to the Lake Cowichan Kraken shows the kind of doors we’re opening for our players to advance.”

We’re proud to welcome Parker to the Venom family and look forward to watching his impact both with our U18 AAA program and through his opportunities with the Kraken.

A Shared Culture of Development and Success

Venom HC AAA General Manager Brady Douglas emphasized how this partnership aligns with the club’s vision: "This affiliation with the Lake Cowichan Kraken is an incredible step for our program and our players. It provides a clear and tangible pathway for our athletes to showcase their abilities at the junior level while still competing in AAA. Both organizations share a common culture of accountability, development, and a winning mindset. At Venom, we are committed to preparing our players for the next stage of their careers, and having this direct link ensures they receive the exposure and opportunities they deserve. This partnership isn’t just about one season—it’s about building a bridge for our players to reach the highest levels they are capable of."

What This Means for Venom Players

  • Priority Call-Ups: Venom HC players will be first in line for opportunities with the Kraken when roster needs arise during the season.

  • AP Opportunities: Eligible athletes will have the chance to earn affiliate player positions with the VIJHL club, gaining experience and exposure in a competitive junior environment.

  • Player Development Focus: With both programs aligned in philosophy, athletes can expect consistent support, structure, and guidance designed to maximize growth and performance.

Building a Pathway

The Venom HC AAA program was built on the belief that high-level players need more than just training—they need opportunity. This new affiliation with the Lake Cowichan Kraken is a reflection of that belief and another step toward solidifying Venom HC as a true player development leader in Western Canada.
