VENOM HC AAA Adds Size, Leadership With Signing Of Danton Sapp

ABBOTSFORD, BC — Venom HC AAA is proud to welcome Defenseman, Danton Sapp to Abbotsford, BC, as he joins the Venom HC 19U AAA program for the 2026/27 season.

Coming to the Fraser Valley from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Sapp brings a combination of size, determination, and a fresh perspective as he looks to take the next step in his hockey development.

Standing at an impressive 6'2" and 175 pounds, Sapp spent the majority of last season with the Battleford Beaver Blues of the SPHL, appearing in 13 regular-season games and recording 2 goals and 2 assists. He also suited up in three playoff games, adding another assist during the postseason.

While his statistical numbers tell only part of the story, Sapp is joining Venom HC with clear goals for the upcoming season. He is looking forward to enjoying the game, gaining valuable experience, and competing outside of his local hockey market while taking advantage of the opportunities that come with playing AAA hockey in the Fraser Valley.

Sapp is also eager to embrace a leadership role within the Venom HC dressing room and become a positive contributor both on and off the ice.

“Danton is a player who is looking for an opportunity to challenge himself, experience a different hockey environment, and continue growing as a player and person,” said Venom HC President & GM Brady Douglas. “His size immediately gives him a physical presence, but what we are really excited about is his willingness to learn, compete, and take on a leadership role. Coming from North Battleford and making the move to Abbotsford is a big step, and we’re looking forward to helping Danton make the most of the opportunity.”

For Sapp, the move to Abbotsford represents more than simply joining a new team. It is an opportunity to experience a new level of competition, meet new teammates, expand his hockey network, and push himself outside of his comfort zone.
