The North American Prep Hockey League has established itself as a leading platform in prep school hockey, built on over 15 years of experience delivering high-level competition and exposure. What began as an alternative to traditional league play has grown into a premier showcase model, bringing together top prep programs from across Canada and the United States.
Today, the NAPHL features multiple age divisions—including Varsity (19U), 16U, 15U, 14U, 12U and Girls—providing student-athletes with consistent opportunities to compete against a wide range of opponents. Through its showcase-style structure, the league expands competition beyond regional boundaries, allowing teams to face diverse programs while maximizing development and exposure.
Originally rooted in Canadian prep hockey, the NAPHL has expanded its footprint across North America, creating a broader and more competitive environment for its members. The league is committed to supporting independently operated programs that share a unified goal: delivering elite-level competition while prioritizing player development, sportsmanship, and safety. At its core, the NAPHL is designed to prepare athletes for the next level—whether that be junior hockey, U SPORTS (CIS), or NCAA opportunities—by providing meaningful game experience in a structured and professional environment.
Mission Statement
The NAPHL was created to provide teams, coaches, players, and families with a flexible, high-quality development pathway outside of traditional league models. The league is committed to continuous improvement through:
-
Enhancing the quality and training of on-ice officials
-
Strengthening communication between teams, coaches, and management
-
Implementing rules that support player development and game integrity
-
Creating pathways and exposure to higher levels of hockey
-
Structuring showcase schedules that balance competition with development
-
Offering accessible locations to ensure reasonable travel for member programs
Above all, the NAPHL strives to create an environment where student-athletes can compete, develop, and enjoy the game—while pursuing their goals and passion for hockey.
